No flags flying at half-mast...
Sunday, July 10, 2005
Walking around downtown Fredericton on Thursday evening, I was surpised to note that none of the Canadian flags on display were flying at half mast. I remember when 9/11 happened, that most of the flags all over town were immediately brought down to half mast. Now why would that be? Could it be that Frederictonians do not feel themselves being as close to the country of their Head of State, the Queen of England, than they do towards their neighbours to the south? Just wondering...

We went down to Officer's Square again on Thursday evening, to watch the concert by that Hillbilly duo Isaac & Blewitt. They hail from deep in Albert County, New Brunswick (and people around here will now what that means!). Nice and sometimes strange, but mostly beautiful tunes about their country living on the shores of the Bay of Fundy. They're in Frederciton making a new CD with their friends, the jazz/blues band Hot Toddy.
