A Perfect Morning

Sunday, July 17, 2005

Today was one of those perfect summer days - when we went to the farmer's market this morning, the sky was a bright, deep blue, very little wind, and even though the day was starting to warm up it wasn't too sticky yet - so we decided to go kayaking on the Saint John river. (Of course we didn't go before we had a really BIG breakfast at the Log Cabin out on Woodstock road, one of the last authentic 50's style diners around). You can rent a kayak for a couple of dollars at the Small Crafts Aqautic Centre downtown, just past old Government house, and for a few hours pretend that you are a backcountry paddler, deep in the woods of New Brunswick. It's amazing, once you're out on the river, all the houses and cars and noise that is Fredericton, just completely disappear, until it's just you, your kayak, and the blue of water and sky...

Hannes, it sounds like you don't want to leave Fredericton.
Perhaps you and Hannelie should STAY!

Well, maybe we will...IF the good people I work for decide that I'm good enough to be offered a permanent job...you never know...but it's a bif if. The plan is, where ever one of us can get a permanent job, that is where we will go!
