Water, water everywhere...

We just had an amazing thundershower in F'ton, all big cumulonimbus clouds and blue thunderheads high in the sky, with lightning all around. It was reminiscent of the late afternoon thunderstorms we have back home. Probably the outlying moist tendrils of the cyclone strifing the southern states...
Coming from a dry land, I stil cannot get used to all the open water in eastern Canada, all the lakes, rivers and swamps (sorry, "wetlands") in watery abundance...just look at the big Saint John river, flowing stately through most of Western New Brunswick down to the Fundy coast. Although the St. John is not considered to be one of the biggest rivers in Canada, it's still probably bigger and wider than any river in South Africa.
Hannes, you would like the storms that Northern Alberta experiences. The clouds roll in so fast and before you know it there is a tremendous downpour. Here is where I have experienced some of the heaviest rain I have ever seen!
