Summer on Prince Edward Island
Monday, August 08, 2005
We went on a short summer holiday to the western part of tiny Prince Edward Island last week. Although the central part of the island is definitely a deathly tourist trap, filled with garish souvenir shops, wax museums and other americana, there are still areas of bucolic and pastoral beauty. Hannelie got all excited about the potatoe museum we visited in the hamlet of O'Leary - mostly because that's what she's studying for her Phd. And, if you must know, I got all excited about the wind farm we visited on North Cape - mostly because that's what my work is about these days...so we're not the most exciting of people...:)
We had bad weather for most of the trip, and could only spend a day or so on the famed sandy beaches. However, we will definitily go back someday...
