An almost-winter-day
Saturday, November 12, 2005
We took a day trip with some of our expat South African friends to Halls Harbour on the Minas basin. It was freezing! The sun was shining but it was a bitterly cold late-fall day, right there on the verge of winter (indeed, a garage owner in New Minas said that it had snowed a bit there last night). It's a beautiful spot in summer, with a long rocky beach where you can walk and collect driftwood or interesting-looking pebbles, but today the wind was howling and the ocean was a grey and forbidding place. We made up for the day by having a nice lunch at Rosy's Pub in nearby Wolfville. They make their own handcrafted ales on the premises - I had some of the Annapolis Vallye Ale, and Hannelie pronounced her Raven Ale to be very tasty. The food was great too.
There is a really nice Farmers Market in Wolfville. They don't sell meat from what I remember but they have great produce and baked goods. :)
