Early Christmas Parade
Tuesday, November 22, 2005
We went to watch the Halifax Parade of Lights on Saturday. It's seems very early to have a Christmas parade, but I guess everybody wants to get into the spirit of "the season" as early as possible (the shops certainly do). The newspaper said there was going to be 70,000 people, and they were not exaggerating! We couldn't find a good place to stand, so we went and sat next to the Public Gardens, and watched the people watching the parade (that's Hannelie in the picture below, trying to stay warm with a cup of hot apple cider). It was bitterly cold, which seems to be usual for this kind of thing - as Hannelie said, every year your body forgets how cold it can get here...My lips were numb by the time we got on the bus, and I couldn't form the words to ask whether that particular one went to the Mumford terminal. Luckily it did.
