To the Sea!

After being stuck in dry and dusty Canberra for the past two months, we decided to try and find the ocean - according to Goofle Earth, only about 120 km due east of the Capital. So, early on Sunday morning we set out on the so-called King's Highway towards Bateman's Bay, on the south-east coast of New South Wales. However, we soon realised that the term 'highway' was used in the ironic sense, or might have been coined back in the days of horse-carts...The road's miniscule width was reminiscent of one of the narrow back roads in rural Scotland, and the many hair-raising steep twists and turns down the escarpment didn't help, either. It took us more than two hours to travel the distance. Luckily, it was worth it, because look what we found:
Although Bateman's Bay itself seems to be something of a tourist trap, there are two National Parks to the south and the north of the town, both containing long stretches of deserted, sandy beaches...
Oh yes, and before I forget, here is a pic of our "new" Old Volvo...
Nice beach! and nice car!
