Breakfast & Moon Rocks

Sunday, May 13, 2007

We are slowly returning to our usual (pre-baby) weekend activities, such as having Saturday breakfast at a nice breakfast place, or exploring the Canberra surrounds. Baby permitting, of course. On Saturday morning we had some excellent fare at the Pancake Parlour in civic. A very nice breakfast it was too, considering all their produce are either free-range or organic, and they do the most sublime scrambled eggs I have ever tasted. "How do you do it," I asked, "Is it the addition of cream, or maybe butter or some other secret ingredient?" "Milkshake Blender," they whispered, with a wink.
This morning, for our family's first Mother's Day, we visited the Canberra Deep Space Communications complex, in the lovely Tidbinbilla mountains (such geeks, us). They have some nice space memorabilia, like space suits, a working replica of one of the Mars rovers, and even (gasp!) a real moon rock. That's apart from the cool hardware outside, all the radio telescopes and such. They even do a decent carrot cake in their little cafe (called The Moon Rock -cafe, what else).
