The weather, and other news

What news?, you say, and I'm thinking, I can't write about the weather again, that would be like, soo lame. Although New South Wales did get hit by a killer storm, resulting in a deluge which swamped homes and destroyed roads, sometimes while people were still on them. Even a big coal tanker got stuck on a sand bar because of the storm surge, and there she still lies, leaching oil and whatnot into the so-called pristine marine environment. So, like I said, I'm not going to talk about the weather. Instead, I'll do the expat-South African thing, and talk about rugby. The Springboks (that's the South African rugby team), beat the Wallabies (that's the Australian rugby team) this weekend in South Africa, so there. Um...Rugby? That's the sport where they run around with this oval-shaped ball, and...Oh, forget it. Today we got together with some expat South Africans here in Canberra, and had us a real braai. That's a bbq, for you Canadians out there, except with real meat and real boerewors sausages. And there were koeksusters too, yum.
That sounds great! Who made the koeksisters?

There's a nice lady called Erica who made a batch, and I was fortunate to be standing in line just as she delivered it, and I quickly bought a dozen, much to the disgruntlement of the people behind me...it was quickly sold out...But we're on her mailing list now...
