Dispatches from the sunburned wastelands

If anybody has been trying to reach me via e-mail over the last couple of days, sorry I haven't responded. Our brilliant Internet service provider, Grapevine, crashed their e-mail server on Sunday, and it hasn't been operational since. Sometimes I wonder about Australia...Every now and again something happens that reminds me of the kind of third world attitude I last experienced in certain South African institutions...
