The Joys of (Paper)work
Sunday, March 26, 2006
Phew! Just the sound of me catching my breath, after a hectic week back at the office in Fredericton. Trying to catch up on what's been happening at work for the last 6 months, while simultaneously struggling to get our "papers" sorted (work visas & the like), has left me breathless. Yesterday, I drove back to Halifax to spend the weekend with Hannelie, only to spend most of a beautiful, sunny Saturday holed up inside, filling out dozens of forms...Where did I live between those now oh so fuzzy years of 19 and 20? And, where exactly was my Mother born? Oh, the joy of applying to stay in wonderful Canada - I'm sure to be eligible for the Secret Service, after all the background info I had to provide.
In the meantime, I've been squatting at Shelly & Mike's...Thanks Guys! For the next little while (at least till we're sure whether we'll be staying in Canada), it looks like I'll be living in a picturesque little cottage on the banks of the Saint John River, in the bucolic Village of Gagetown - it's only about 35 minutes from work, although it feels like a thousand miles and dozens of years away. I'll post a picture of it soon.
Who said you were squatting? The bill comes at the end of the month!
