Update on country living

It's amazing, but I've been living here in little Gagetown for almost a month now...Time goes by more quickly when you don't want it to. Yes, I'm referring to the looming deadline for our work permits/immigration situation to be resolved - we now have less than six weeks to obtain new work permits (I'm picturing a big electronic clock in my head, counting down the days). Our immigration lawyer says not to worry, but you know me... In the meantime, I'm still enjoying my little cottage on the river (at least until the swarms mosquitoes and blackflies start coming out). If our situation does get resolved in time, we will probably move back to Fredericton...Not that I don't enjoy living here, it's just that fuel is getting to be prohibitively expensive, and it would be nice to have the option of public transport again. It's still relatively quiet here, despite the fact that I have new neighbours who moved into the house that my cottage is attached to. There's two teenagers in the household (I'm hearing Shelly saying that people get what they deserve), but so far, they've been relatively quiet (keeping my fingers crossed).

Hannelie is visiting from Halifax, so at least I have a little company now! She's finished marking exams, and will stay here for the next week or so, until she has to go back to teach an intersession course. We got the bicycles all oiled and ready, and I'm hoping for a nice couple of warm days so we can get some exploring done - there's all kinds of interesting little back roads around the town, and we might even take the ferry across the river this weekend.
