Worsstop, roughly translated, means "shoving meat into sausages"... Hannelie spent last weekend at Dana & Liz, making Boerewors sausages. Making Boerewors (farmer's sausages) is an old Afrikaner tradition - as is eating them! These sausages are cultural icons, and hails back to the beginning of the Afrikaner culture in South Africa, about 150 years ago. It's full flavour is best experienced when barbecued. The main ingredients are ground beef, coriander, and a little bit of pork fat, but it doesn't taste like any other beef sausage I've ever tried in Canada. Maybe it's because it tastes like home...
