Dispatches from the sunburned wastelands

I'm all alone this weekend, boo-hoo :-( Hannelie is still in Halifax, trying to get rid of our apartment. So far, we haven't had any luck - there were some students who were interested, but of course the evil landlord didn't want to give us permission to sublet to them...The screw-up with our medicals may get sorted out on Monday, I'm told...I was tempted to drive down to Halifax again tonight, but we just can't afford the gas anymore, and I'm getting tired of the looong drives.

Looks like a rainy weekend ahead. Maybe I'll go and watch "An Inconvenient Truth", the Al Gore documentary on global warming, which (miraculously) is getting a spin at the usually boring local Freddy cinemas.
