No, I haven't fallen off the face of the earth yet...we're alive and well, and visiting relatives and friends in South Africa. We had a good flight from Halifax to London last Wednesday, where we braved the English heatwave to visit the British Museum...The flight from London to SA was delayed for two hours, because somebody checked some luggage on the flight, and then produced a shady-looking passport...But, we arrived here in Johannesburg last Friday morning all in one piece. We're flying onwards to Australia on Friday. South Africa seems more affluent than I remember - A lot of shiny new German cars on the roads, new houses and development everywhere, and crowded shopping malls...Strange weather over here, too - Initially, the South African winter felt like summer for the first couple of days (27 degrees celsius), and then, suddenly, the temperature dropped, and now it's freezing (stop rolling your eyes, Shelly)...They've had heavy snowfall in the Cape, and freezing rain in Johannesburg, not to mention a tornado in Mpumalanga...Very unusual indeed. I'll try to post again before we leave on Friday.
Great to hear from you Hannes! Glad to hear things are going well. the weather there sounds as crazy as it has been here. freak thunderstorms and hail in the middle of the day here, twisters and green skies in quebec and ontario.
Have a safe trip tomorrow. hope to hear from you again soon!
I wasn't rolling my eyes, not at all. :)
We recieved Calista's package yesterday (but just picked it up today) she loved it, and says thank you very much.
