The famous martial arts movie star Jackie Chan's parents emigrated to Canberra as refugees from China in 1960. Jackie Chan also spent some time in Canberra, and attended a local college for a short time. He later donated a lot of money for cancer research to the Australian National University here in Canberra, and they in turn named one of their research buildings after him.
