(Almost) The end of the World

It snowed and sleeted (is that a word?) this afternoon on the road back from Hannelie's work. I couldn't believe it, and if I hadn't lived in Canada for five years, I wouldn't have known what to make of the strange, sticky stuff that coated the windshield...This is unnatural, and surely an omen...Maybe the end is nigh? It's mid-November in the Southern Hemisphere, for crying out loud! It should already have been 30 degrees in the shade, not the zero degrees that they're predicting for tonight. Maybe I should change the blog's name back to "frozen wastelands" again...
Yesterday, thanks in large part to Canada's opposition MPs bad-mouthing their own country at the UN climate change conference in Kenya, Canada received the "fossil of the day" award along with Australia for ranking low on an environmental group's list for efforts to combat global warming.
Nathalie:
But that is what the opposition is for: to oppose the leading party on issues they believe Canadians would like them to fight for. I'm glad our opposition MP's 'bad-mouthed' Canada, at least it shows that at least SOMEONE in Canada does not agree with Harper's environmental strategy. We deserve the title of fossil in this regard.
Hannes:
It's snowing in Aus, and it's +15 here! CRAZY!!!! Fossils indeed!
