We finally got some much needed rain yesterday - though, in the end, it totalled a paltry 9 mm...But it felt like a lot more. Hey, you take what you can get, when there's a drought. The cold front that brought the rain is causing all kins of whacky weather, too - There's a frost warning out for tomorrow morning, and they expect snow on the surrounding mountains, crazy for mid-November...Hey, maybe we'll have a white Christmas, after all : )
Our pathetic Internet Service Provider (which is a separate entity from the internet cable provider - don't ask) dropped their service with the fist crash of thunder. So, a whole day without internet went by. That was almost as bad as the Cable TV withdrawal symptoms I'm going through (no cable in Aus...).
In other developments, our furniture from South Africa was due to arrive ion Sydney Harbour yesterday. Hooray! Now, we only have to wait for customs red tape to be cleared - which may, apparently, take another 4-6 weeks. Sigh.
Hey, there is cable in Australia ... just not in our suburb and we cannot afford satellite yet!
It is quite pathetic to watch poor Hannes obsessively flipping through four channels in the vain hope of catching something good on TV :-D ... I miss HGTV and CMT the most ... AND the Weather Channel
... and Discovery and Space ... even CBC!
I LOVE CBC! You know you can download programmes from the internet. Use torrents. Mike does it for me when I miss a show or something. It's almost as good as TIVO. :)

Aaah, but here's the problem: To download a TV program without it taking all day, you need something called fibre-optics ... NOT stupid copper cables! AND you need a more reliable ISP ... they were down again last night.
I have just finished downloading season 1 and 2 of grey's anatomy. would you like me to mail them to you? wouldnt want you to go insane over there with no TV.
