Dispatches from the sunburned wastelands

The one South African dessert "food" that I probably miss the most (and that is the hardest to make yourself, if you're lazy), is called "koeksisters". It starts off as a sweet batter, that's then tied into a twist (almost like a bow-tie), deep fried, and then dipped in a sweet syrup...Yum. Here is an ABC report of another ex-South African in Australia, talking about and showing how she makes koeksisters. Mmm...I think Hannelie should have a look...
