Baby-talk

The pretty young girl at the checkout gave a wistful sigh. 'Ooh, he's making me go all gooey', she gurgled. Unfortunately she wasn't talking about me. Instead, she was referring to baby Martin, who was sleeping soundly in his mother's front-pack, looking too cute for words, and attracting all the attention from Canberra's young, pretty girls. Oh well...On a more serious note, if you thought that this blog had turned all baby-bloggish, you're right. Having a newborn for the first time tends to focus the concentration somewhat. And even more so when there is something (even a little) wrong with them.
Getting back to the girl's comments at the market, I just wished he could be cute and cuddly all the time. It sometimes feels as if he is always screaming his little lungs out between sleeps, with very little of the gurgling baby-talk that everyone is on about, where he is supposed to stare soulfully into his parents loving eyes, and make all kinds of cute sounds. I keep on insisting that there must be something wrong, maybe colic, or acid-reflux, or stomach cramps, but all the doctors keep on saying is that it is normal for babies to behave this way. This does nothing to ease our sufferings, however...To me, this is the same as saying that toothache is a common occurrence, and that it will go away again (when the tooth rots out). Anyone out there with some sage advice on how to beat the late afternoon grumblings? Please? It would be much appreciated.

I have no real advice. Whenever Calista got gas or seemed to have an upset stomach I would give her gripe water and it seemed to work. Not sure if that is possible for you though.
But for the most part she was easy going. Sorry.
