Dispatches from the sunburned wastelands

The Mother-in-law wanted to see some kangaroos (being in Australia and all), so last Sunday we went to Tidbinbilla Nature reserve, just south of Canberra. First, we saw some strange, giant Emu birds,and then, the monster-in-law scared the heebie-jeebies out of some poor, unsuspecting sleeping wallabies,and finally, we had a lovely picnic.

Did I mention that the drought seems to have been finally broken? It rained almost the whole long weekend, and it was still raining intermittently during the day today. Canberra looks like a strange, wet, green paradise...
