Boots and all

I'm totally knackered. We drove up to Sydney Friday morning, had them take off Martin's casts, and fit him with (very expensive) booties, and then drove back to Canberra an hour r so later. It didn't help that the wind was blowing like mad either - Volvos don't really like to be driven in high winds...(At least it wasn't a snowstorm, right?). Baby's legs looked great when the casts came off, and the cuts from the operation healed nicely. His feet can now be bended in the proper directions, too. And, his mother is very happy that she'll be able to bath him properly again, now that we don't have to worry about getting the casts wet...(not that it prevented him from occasionally peeing all over them). Baby now has to wear his booties for 23 hours a day, for the next three months. It will take a while (for all of us) to get used to it. Unfortunately, Martin realized on Friday evening that he cannot kick his legs independently anymore, and made us suffer for it. He woke us every half hour to complain...Saturday night was a little better (aided by baby-Panadol for him and some Jack Daniels for us); we're hoping tonight will be better still.

So it was Earth Hour last night, and we dutifully turned off all the lights, and then remembered that we didn't really have any good (light-giving)candles...so we had dinner by aromatic candle-light. Was fun, though, the neighbours must have thought we were nuts.
