Dispatches from the sunburned wastelands

Right. So, where was I? Oh yes, some good news (I think). Mrs B was offered (and accepted) a permanent position here in Oz, at the big flagship research organization where she currently occupies a post-doc position....There was even some sort of a bidding war going on between two groups to get her! It's a big jump up from her current temporary post-doc position, and will give us the opportunity to apply for permanent residency status here. This is a big deal for us, because it's time for some stability in our lives, I think, especially with the little monster to worry about. It will also give us access to the Oz Medicare system, and maybe even some childcare benefits. As a PR, I might also be able to apply for a better job...
