Foghorn City

Monday, June 12, 2006

I discovered this weekend why many people call Halifax "Foghorn City". It was foggy and miserable the whole weekend. I think that this situation was partly attributable to the marriage ceremony that took place this weekend in Halifax, between Shambhala Buddhist spiritual leader Sakyong Rinpoche and his Tibetan Princess, Tseyang Palmo. Apparently Halifax is the world headquarters for this religion (obviously it was chosen because Halifax is generating a lot of good vibrations, dude). Nothing like a few green hills shrouded in mysterious fog to remind you of home in the Tibetan highlands, right...Now if they had just concentrated, I bet they could have changed the sounds of those darn foghorns with the deeply Zen sounds of gongs and the twinkling of wind chimes...Halifax is getting to be an interesting place.
