Happy thoughts?

Friday, June 30, 2006

As I write this, we are in dire straits. We haven't managed to assign our Halifax apartment's lease yet, and the cost of running two households is beginning to show. Almost all of our savings is gone now, gobbled up by the expense of the ongoing Canadian Permanet residency battle, various associated legal fees, all the medical examinations recently undertaken, etc. etc. I'm moving out of the Gagetown apartment on Saturday, after which I'll be housesitting for a colleague for a week. After that, who knows? Things are still not going too smoothly on both our immigration fronts. The revised Australian x-ray paperwork is apparently stalled in transit somewhere in Los Angeles, according to the (Super!Fast!Efficient! $100 for A Piece of Paper!) DHL courier people. Over in Vegreville (Alberta) our Work Visa extension applications have not even reached the top of the pile yet (they're only processing applications received prior to May 19 now...). Processing time is currently 45 working days, and they keep on adding a few more days every week. We haven't heard anything from our PR applications in Buffalo yet, but I imagine they're waiting to receive our Canadian police clearance certificates - which also seems to take forever to get done. Sigh. I'm sorry, but it's hard to keep up my sunny personality (ha-ha) with all of this going on.

To top eveything off, this afternoon the old Volvo started behaving badly...Don't know if I will be able to reach work tomorrow.
